Welcome to Gather.

The Bouverie Centre's “DIY Family Therapy” e-hub. Family therapy is a way of thinking and of talking that focuses on relationships, communication, and wellbeing between people who care for each other.

At Gather, you can find practical information to help you understand and strengthen your relationships in the context of everyday ups and downs, as well as some unexpected challenges. If you want to, Gather lets you share some of these ideas with trusted family members.

At the moment, Gather is available to families who are referred to the Bouverie Centre. If you are interested in accessing these resources for yourself or the families you work with, please reach out.

About Bouverie

What we mean by ‘family’

Gather lets you define family. That might include partners, children, parents, siblings, step, fostered or adoptive family, extended kin, close friends, land/country or community. Common to all are caregiving roles, responsibilities and relationship connections these people have with each other.

Why we built Gather.

The Bouverie Centre is Australia’s oldest and largest family therapy centre. We know most families are capable of solving their own problems with the right information at the right time. Not everyone can or needs to see a therapist in person. So we decided to give you some good DIY family therapy ideas, to help you find your next best steps and directions.

When relationships aren't working well, family can feel like a hard place to be.

There are many small steps you can take, to make a difference. Gather will show you how, but just like a good family therapist, it won’t try to “fix” your family. But it will point you in a helpful direction, with...

How to use Gather

Gather has four books, each with three parts. There are things to read, watch, listen to, and try. You can decide what order you read things in. Each part starts with the basics, then ‘read more’ and 'try’ prompts from there.

You can also Gather your ideas in your own library and invite others in your family to Gather.
